Who are we?
The charitable, non-profit association “Muskaan – Lächeln für Indien e.V.” (meaning: “Muskaan – Smile for India”) was started in 2014.
We support and foster disadvantaged people in need, as well as physically and/or mentally challenged people in India. We especially focus on children.
The Hindi word „Muskaan“ means “smile”. Our aim is to give as many people as possible in India a smile.
Therefore, Muskaan supports several social projects in India (see soziale Projekte und Einrichtungen ). We communicate with the people in charge on site regularly and make sure that all donations reach the people in need.
The association is led by Monja Hofmann (president), Matthias Hofmann (treasurer) and Katrin Schorz (recording clerk). All our members work unsalaried for our association, „Muskaan – ein Lächeln für Indien e.V.“.
In India, social worker Sister Sneha is our helper and person in charge. She organises and supervises our projects.

In 2012, Monja Hofmann lived and worked as a volunteer in a center for handicapped children in Northern India for a year. After her return to Germany she wanted to continue to support disadvantaged people in India, assisted by family and friends. In 2014 they decided to start an association.
